A lost and great old song by Sheldon Allman. ‘Big Brother Is Watching You. Just a cool tune that is more important now than EVER.
This song is a reference to the book 1984 from the lyrics “big brother is watching you” to “unless you can double think” and “remember they work both ways” in reference to the T.V. It’s a song about the government keeping constant tabs on the people, like in the book. At the time of release of this song in 1960, because the album was called “Folk Songs for the 21st Century” he could have been trying to predict the future.
Be careful of what you say
Be careful in every way
Be careful of what you do
Big brother is watching you
Be circumspect and discrete
Stay light on your mental feet
One slip and you know you’re through
Big brother is watching you
Conform with all directives
Remember obedience pays
And when you watch that TV screen
Remember it works both ways
You’ll disappear in a wink
Unless you can double think
You’ll vanish into the blue
Big brother is watching you
Big brother is watching you
Big brother is watching you
Conform with all directives
Remember obedience pays
And when you watch that TV screen
Remember it works both ways
You’ll disappear in a wink
Unless you can double think
You’ll vanish into the blue
Big brother is watching you
Big brother is watching you
Big brother is watching you
Big brother is watching you
