I LOVE the word ‘practicable’. It is one of my favorite words. It is similar to ‘possible’ but more specific:
Here’s the difference:
Possible = something that CAN happen — it’s within the realm of reality.
Practicable = something that can actually be DONE given real world constraints — time, resources, circumstances.
Example:
- “It is possible to walk from New York to Los Angeles.” — technically true ✅
- “It is not practicable to walk from New York to Los Angeles for most people.” — realistic assessment ✅
Something can be possible but not practicable.
Climbing Mount Everest is possible — thousands have done it. But it’s not practicable for most people given the cost, training and risk involved. 😊
